A LITTLE MILK PAINT turquoise country cabinet

I used a little sea green milk paint to achieve a great antiqued or aged effect

on this country cabinet I finished.

It didnt start out this nice.

This photo below was taken after 12 hours of repairing, priming, and replacing hardware.

The upper shelving had a missing bit I had to manufacture.

The chest top needed some repairs as well.

Once I had it all primed I distressed it pretty heavily.

I then sprayed a splatter coat of the Sea Green Milk paint over the entire piece,

which even crackled around the handles.

Photo of the Milk Paint Coat was corrupted but you can see the cracking here in a final photo.

Next I tinted more white primer with turquoise

I used 2 pots never fully mixing it so I would have a varying finish in the color.

Sanding all the way thru.

 I prefer to distress after each coat adding to the depth of the finish.

I used the backer board for the top off a spare parts hutch.

I sanded it, primed it, painted it, distress it, stained it, and finally waxed it all before installing.

Its much easier that way but I know it doesnt sound like it.

Before installing the backer I had to stained and wax the rest of the piece,

it did probably take over 2 hours, pheewwf.

Im giddy with how she turned out,

 

Double plate rail, you couldnt ask for anything more.

 

Look at those curves ......... in the wood I mean.

Its about "TIME"

I changed my header pictures, so last night before bed I re-arranged, cropped,

editted, and stitched a new set of pictures for you all to be welcomed with.

I got back to finishing furniture and stop re-arranging rooms,

for now anyway!

Taking pictures of painted furniture and sharing them on-line

never tuely conveys the color of a piece.

This Kroehler dresser is a bright full bodied TURQUOISE,

and gorgeous with the dark wood showing through.

Its definetly one that has to be seen in person to fully appreciate.

I snuck some vintage knobs from Georges Etsy to finish her off.

Here we are in the new year and I find the list of things to do so long.

The holiday decorations now have to come down and be neatly stored away for another year.

We have one of those fancy storage box springs that lift on hydraulics to hide all the Christmas decor.

 I recommend these to anyone looking for extra storage.

Kat on the other hand is not so fond of the bed lifting up and disturbing her beauty sleep.

Over the last 8 months I have been slowly setting up my back room work shop to function just right for my ever aching back. I need good work surfaces great open storage and the ability to sit while Im painting. Now that we are in the colder months and most of my painting is indoors this space is definitely on the list to finalize.

While I work on this list the furniture continues to stack up making

me feel Im not getting much accomplished, and I am disappointed

my reinventing of furniture has not been utilized as much as Id prefer.

So for my first project this year I wanted to get back to creating, recycling, and rebuilding.

I started with a simple vintage 2 drawer chest

A large and heavy framed mirror

Appliques actually salvage road side during last years recycle week

Bits of recycled wood from all my travels including:

stairs spindles, 3 dresser aprons, old pine shelving, and another dresser

of lesser value scarified its self for the structure of the upper portion.

Its painted in a beautiful deep turquoise that has to been seen.

It has been waxed, distressed, and waxed again to a super soft finish.
