Shop Sneak Peek

Hello!  Happy Friday!
Weve been working practically round the clock to get our shop ready for its Grand Opening Saturday morning and boy are we exhausted.....but its a good exhausted, you know?
Anyway, I wanted to give you a little sneak peek.....

I love this night time shot because of the lights we have inside the store.
Speaking of lights.
When we first rented this place, we werent allowed to do all that much, which was fine because it really is a fantastic building, however, the ceiling light fixtures were very outdated ceiling fans with those tulip shaped light covers on the light kits, which I hate.
Replacing the fixtures was not really a good option so I decided to remove the ugly light covers and add Edison bulbs to give them an industrial vintage feel.
We absolutely love it.  It was certainly a fun, easy update.
And the glow they provide is really nice and vintage.  Love that.....
Here are a just a few of the things you can find here....
Lots of vintage door knobs and hardware....
Vintage suitcases and steamer trunks....
Vintage castors....
Italian vintage drinkware.....
Every kind of number and sign you can imagine....
Industrial salvage....
And the cutest set of copper keys, plus tons more.  There is pretty much a little bit of everything here.  :)  Which is the way we like it.  :)
Stay tuned for photos of the Grand Opening!
And hopefully Ill be back to home projects soon!  :)
Have a great day!P.S.  Im having trouble posting the link but the Edison bulbs can be found at 1000bulbs.com.  :)

Our New Shop!

Hey there!  I know a lot of you have been wondering whats up with our shop, as Ive received tons of emails asking what the heck was going on.  To be honest, we didnt know either.  We became unhappy with the little white house we were planning to use to open our new shop.  There wasnt enough space and because the layout wasnt right inside at all, it was just going to require too much work.  Those things just kinda derailed our motivation and we almost gave up.
Well, that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  While we were stalling, trying to figure out what to do or even if we should just give up, an AMAZING old building on our historical main street became available.  Its right smack in the middle of our quaint little town, along with some other wonderful shops and has fantastic architectural features.  It is truly gorgeous.  There is so much history behind these buildings.  Best thing is that it is move in ready,
except for a coat of paint and some cleaning.
We have a couple of months to get it ready and we cant wait!!
Our new shop will be called Vintage Accents.  It will have a mix of everything vintage, plenty of architectural salvage and all those wonderful things my hubby finds on his picking trips and storage auctions, plus lots more.  Were working on a little video to give you a better idea of what it is and the wonderful location, so, stay tuned for that!  I cant wait to show you all and I really hope that when we get it open, you will come see us!
Country Living
This is really a dream come true for both of us so its also a little scary terrifying because you just never know how these things will turn out but we sure are going to give it our all and have fun while were doing it.
Watch for the video coming soon!

LITTLE SHOP OF HEDWIG shabby chic from florida to bc

WARNING: this is a Sunday posting much like a Sunday drive .. for your enjoyment.
It will have an option at the end so plz stay tuned
we suggest you grab a tea or coffee or
even a lemonade a sit back and enjoy the ride.
Way too long ago I mentioned a fabulous shabby chic furniture shop we
found on our vacation while in Florida. I had seen some adverts for a few antique
shops in the Grand Central district of St. Petersburg, only 10 mins from our beach side getaway.
As we pulled up to the curb, my involvement in the conversation
about our days plans dropped along with my jaw.
My eyes glazed over and I couldnt get out of the seat belt fast enough.
But then everything slowed down, including Georges voice trying to get my attention again.
"OH MY GAWD LOOK" I said to him, like he had no clue what power had
taken my mind, body, and soul over in those few seconds.
This wasnt on the list, the store next door was, even the one across the street was on the list.
How could this little shop not be on every list out there.
Upholstered french distressed white chair with a QUILT!
As I write this post I am seriously reminded of how child like I felt
during the whole visit. How I even managed to take pictures is a miracle.
Once we made it thru the front door, George jokingly announces to the 2 ladies over seeing
the shop that I was all theirs and hed be back in a few hours to pick me up.
Eiffel tower images on french chairs, white distressing, double welting,
luscious pink rugs under foot, Im thinking at this point *this could be better then the beach*
I can still hear George in the back ground chatting with the ladies, joking as he always does,
as Im running around touching everything with one hand and snapping pics with the other.
So many benches upholstered in almost every vintage fabric we all covet.
Mad Hatter Table for Tea?
By now I havent heard Georges voice in awhile,
I must have made the full journey into this marvelous land.
Look at that wonderful headboard tucked in behind the dresser.
It looks like something from far under the sea reminiscent of Poseidons crown.
Can you see the touch of whimsy sitting in this chair?
It would be so easy to imagine youre a character in a fairy tale or nursery rhythm
Ring a round the rosie, pocket full of posey .....
Flowers over head.
Soft blues, yellows, greens, pinks and of course whites greeted me every time
I rounded a corner or entered another room.
Maybe I could get to Narnia thru this wardrobe.
Is that the lamp post where Lucy met the fawn?
Im sure this is officially Tinker bells bathroom chandelier.
I hear the shop ladies still laughing at Georges jokes,
and then I recall where I actually am.
But before I give in and leave my fantasy
One last daydream about Sleeping Beauty.
Now to that option I mentioned at the started of this LONG journey,
and if you have made it this far you deserve another treat.

Howdy friends!  I love when it when I come across a great bargain, especially when its on Etsy and involves something I adore collecting.  Now, let me back up a bit.......the good thing about being sick in bed.....online shopping.  The bad thing about being sick in bed.....online shopping.  And I did a good bit of it while I was laid up with the flu a couple of weeks ago, but shhhhh, thats a secret.  Every now and then a girl just needs to shop to feel better.  In my defense, it doesnt even count if each thing you buy is under 10 bucks, right?!  :-D
One of my favorite places to shop is Etsy and during my little shopping spree, I came across this absolutely wonderful solid walnut rolling pin for only 6 bucks!
I could NOT pass that up because if you read our blog or visit my Etsy shop, you know how much I adore walnut and also how I adore rolling pins and collecting them.
What a treasure this thing is.....can you imagine all the wonderful stories behind it in the kitchen, families making pie crust or bread dough?  Im sure there is a lot of love behind it, too.
And it will definitely make rolling out dough for a pizza a lot more special and fun because of those things.  I just love that.
The almost black aged color of the walnut is gorgeous.  And I love how it is all one solid piece, instead of rolling handles.
Any of you collect rolling pins?

Our New Shop and a Grand Opening

Hello!  I hope you all had a great weekend!
We are finally making some progress on the new shop.  Remember when I said we had a wonderful opportunity come our way involving a great old building right smack
in the heart of our quaint little town?
Well here it is!
(Ignore the ginormous pots of trees, they are getting picked up.)
This building is amazing.  The area is amazing and we are honestly so thrilled.
We are making a huge life change to go for our dreams and it is so exciting and scary at the same time but I think thats what life is about, you know?
Taking a chance and going for what truly makes you happy.
We still have a lot to do,
even though the inside doesnt really need anything but painting and cleaning.
Heres a view from the inside.
Pretty cool, huh?
The ceiling is way up there and is decked out with the original tin tiles.
And Im crazy about the double stacked windows and wood trim.
I cant wait to polish that up.
Even the view out the window is amazing.
Love the brick with the vine creeping over it.
And the view down the sidewalk.
There are so many cool businesses and buildings in the historical area of our city and Im going to be sharing those with you over the next month or so as we count down to our grand opening.
Heres the view from the opposite direction to the left.
This is a great little place to eat, too.
And a perfect little junk store, right next door, where I bought the hutch I recently
added to our dining room.
I love that place and the owners are so friendly.
So when will the grand opening be?
Our goal is October 15 and not a day later.
Heres what Im thinking for the window......
(just for design purposes, not really on the windows)
I really would like it to be symmetrical, however, the bar divide down the center of the window is making it difficult for me to figure out how to achieve this. Do we put it all on one side of the window?  Or ignore the bar and put the whole thing in the center?  Im just not sure but I do love it on the window and I love the font.Would love to hear your suggestions on placement!
We are so excited about this journey!
And cant thank you enough for your amazing support and encouragement
youve given us here in blogland!
We hope youll come see us!
