PINK CHRISTMAS TREE holiday decor

Minggu, 22 Mei 2016

There was no plan to have a pink Christmas tree this year
but somehow it happened anyway.
It all started with this little fellow and Georges love of Penguins.
Hes silver and white and when we found him late this fall it was
decided we would do a silver and white tree.
Quickly one fat squat penguin bird lead me to this chickadee sized bird
dressed all in white.
Then to this delicate silver glass bird adorned with
long white tail feathers mounted on a spring and clip.
I did decorate the whole tree in white and silver
but it seemed to be missing something.
So I wandered around the house till I came up with that something,
2 large bouquets of pink peonies really make it stand out now.
We both adore the look.
SNEAK PEAK ...
Pictured below is the dresser I first started working on last week.
It has changed considerably since I first started and I will share the final look soon.
UPDATE: this old world style dresser reveal can be found here

Autumn Table Decor and a Vintage Industrial Table

Hello!  Weve been so busy lately so Im a little late to the table decor party but I finally had a chance to put everything together yesterday and wanted to share it here on the blog today.  I also built a new table that we are planning to give away at our shop grand opening during a drawing which Ill show you below.  First up, our fall table.....
I really like to keep things simple and natural, whenever possible.  I also tried to use everything I already had.  The only thing I bought for this table were the pumpkin colored napkins for a steal on ebay ($11 for a set of 8) and the faux wheat and candles.
To keep things natural I used wooden salad bowls and my bread boards as well as the little rosewood dipping bowls.  I love the small pop of color the pumpkin colored napkins provide.
To add a metal element to the table, I used vintage silver flatware, candle holders and salt and pepper shakers.
To continue with a farmhouse feel, I picked up some faux wheat at the craft store and placed it in one of my ironstone white pitchers.  Then I simply wrapped a piece of scrap burlap around it.
For the hutch, I added more faux wheat in a smaller milk pitcher and picked up some apples in the grocery store to put in my vintage dough trencher.  And of course, a couple of extra bread boards.  :)
My absolute favorite thing is the new rug my hubby bought for us for under the dining table.  Ive had my eye on this rug at West Elm now forever and they finally went on sale for only $129.99.  That is our kind of bargain.  :)
The vintage industrial table under the subway art is the table I put together yesterday.  I was thrilled when my hubby told me he found a couple more scrap pieces of bowling alley floor remnants in our storage building so I went to Lowes and bought a bunch of iron piping and got to work.
I wanted to create something to give away during a drawing that we are having during the grand opening of our shop so this is what I came up with.  I happen to love it and Im really looking forward to giving it away.
I cant wait to sit around that table at Thanksgiving with my family.  I love the holidays!  What are you thinking of serving this year?  Any traditions?

Hey there!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday and lots of yummy food!  If youre like me, you dig into the Christmas decor as soon as the Thanksgiving meal dishes are cleaned and put away.  Its festive and fun.
Decorating for Christmas with my family is something I look forward to each year.  Ive been stocking up on decor items that Ive gathered here and there for this season and wanted to give you a little sneak peek of our dining room table decor for the holidays.
Ive picked up some fun things on Etsy and have had so much fun putting everything together.  I cant wait to share it all.  I love this time of year.  Spending time with family and friends, baking goodies and, of course, watching Christmas Vacation.....puts a big smile on my face.
I also wanted to let you know that Ive listed more walnut bread boards in my shop just in time for Christmas.  If you will be ordering these for gifts, now is the time to do so in order for them to arrive in time.
Walnut is something I only have available during the holiday months so these few listed will be it until next year.
The photo above is my new long french walnut bread board.  These are available during the holiday season.
If youd like to order, please click here.
Im looking forward to finishing up our Christmas decor and blogging about it soon!
Happy Holidays!

reclaimed furniture decor

I wanted to share a few more items I have reclaimed out of all my bits and pieces
saved from my furniture escapades.
First are these fun beach themed wall hangers, does anyone recognize what they are made from?
They have metal star shaped knobs to hang from, i.e. towels, keys, coats.
If I had a poolside thats where they would be hanging now.
One of my favorite reclaimed items is the plaster molding hooks.
As promised over on our FACEBOOK page I completed some with vintage glass door knobs.
An finally another large set of pillar candle holders, painted and distressed in bright white and
built from bed parts, drawer faces, and embellished with Fleur DE Lis.
Many ppl that are not local have asked how to
purchase some of these smaller items, we are dabbling in opening an Etsy shop to provide anyone with the ability to purchase some of the smaller items I reclaim.
I will keep you informed.

2012 Christmas Decor Ideas

Hey there!  I finished up our Christmas decor this past weekend.  Actually, its been finished since Thanksgiving but it took me this long to photograph and blog about it.  Oh how I wish the Holidays could be less busy and more relaxing.....  :)
This year for the living room I seemed to be drawn to a campy, rustic cabin decor.  Mostly because of that wonderful buffalo check throw I came across.  It was my inspiration for the entire room.  And of course, I had to throw some industrial vintage decor in there too.
For the Christmas Tree, I always like to decorate it with ornaments that have a story or memory behind them.  Ours is filled with ornaments that we, as well as my parents bought for our kids every year since they were born.  Babys First Christmas....
And funny little elves that are so old they are falling apart, that always make my kids laugh....
This year I also wanted to add vintage Bingo cards because they remind me of one of the first dates that hubby I went on 23 years ago.  We went to a local summer festival and played Bingo under a row of twinkly lights and stars until late into the evening and by the time the evening was over, I was head over heels. :)
We dont have any vintage Bingo cards so I did the next best thing.....I printed off images of them on cardstock, cut them out and threaded red and white bakers twine through a hole I punched in the top.
I fell in love with these aqua colored cards.
As well as these....
Just looking at the tree makes me smile because it is filled with so many wonderful memories.
This year I was drawn to red and white stripes so I continued that theme into the dining room.
I found these adorable little red stripe bowls at Crate and Barrel and fell in love.
And the linen napkins came from this sweet little Etsy shop.  I loved the design and I love handmade even more.
And thats it!  Dont you love decorating for the Holidays?  Are you like me and ready to take it all down the day after Christmas?  ;-)
Happy Holidays!
