Sorry for being lax in my posts. We went to Vegas last week for another vacay/anniversary celebration.
Ive been in vacation mode for about 3 weeks!  But I did get this finished before we left. As usual, I dont have any where to stage this in my house. I am re-doing the living room where this piece will eventually end up. Ive decided on the colors of charcoal, smoke, grays, smokey blues, teals, whites and pops of yellow. This campaign piece was painted in BM "Naples Blue". Kind of a peacocky color. I love it.  I think it will make a great accent piece.

                        The actual color is a little more teal/peacock blue in person.
I applied two coats of the satin BM paint. No chalk paint this time.  If you havent tried BM Aura, I
highly recommend it. It is by far the best paint I have ever used. I have tried hundreds (Im not lying!) of gallons of Behr paint. My whole house is painted with it. And while it seems fine, after trying the Aura, I have to say that it goes on beautifully! Yes its pricey, but so is ASCP. You get what you pay for.
The hardware was polished with brasso. Do not use Tarn-x on brass!

Ok. So now the first campaign debacle.  This is the Baker piece. Scored big time on this one. 15 bucks!  Had no idea until I did some research. Its a well made piece, obviously, that had belonged to the sellers mother.  People, it has been sitting in the garage for months. I just couldnt decide what color to do. I will be keeping this piece because it is such a nice quality.
The wood is bleached walnut. And it needed some TLC. If the wood was great, I would have have kept it natural. So all you wood people, dont hate! I love me some good wood and dont just take a brush to every piece of furniture I see. Some pieces I refuse to paint. So there! pfffffft!
I thought I would try my new milk paint since I sanded this puppy down to bare wood. Or so I thought.
And here is where the debacle begins. 
Thought I would try the nice blue. The drawer looks nice eh? So after sanding and a coat of wax, this is what I was left with. Um, no. Not the look I was going for. 
Way toooooo chippy. Antique, yes. 60s vintage, no. 
Sigh. Break out the sander and start over. Thank god milk paint sands off easily.
The drawer fronts actually have some nice wood grain going on. I decided to keep those and stained them a dark walnut. The wood on the top was just not good quality, trust me. The grain was blotchy and wonky. I tried staining it, but it looked awful.  So I will paint everything but the drawers. 
 They cleaned up nicely!
Now the dilemma. I still cant decide on a color. This will have to be a semi or glossy finish. 
I had thought about an oil based white in glossy, but if I dont like it, it will be too difficult to just
"paint over".  Black seems, well, too severe. Gray, too blah. Red, getting away from red in the house cuz Im tired of it. Green, nah. See what I mean?  I cant decide. 
Any input would be welcomed.  I plan on redoing my living room by using some gray on the walls
and some sort of blue (anything from aqua to peacock,,,,havent decided on that either!) for the other color.
                                      PART II..........after reading a few comments:
                                                         So after reading Rachels comment, I decided to try out MS                   "Plumage" with a little Lagoon mixed in. Here it is on the edges.   ?????
The color above is without the flash.  The pic below, the flash washed out.
 See what I mean about the wood on the top????  Looks like a map of the world.
After stripping off the other paint and sanding with a 220, I coated the bare wood with this seal coat.
It makes all the difference when its time to paint. The paint goes on so much easier than on bare wood.  The finish will look smoother as well.  In fact, any time you stain wood, you should use
a seal coat to lock in your stain prior to applying your finishers. This will not affect the top finish.
And Lesley, I agree, yellow would be very pretty as well! Especially with the gray.
There are so many great colors! Im still on the fence.
I think I will go peruse the Ben Moore paint selections tomorrow and see if anything
jumps out at me!

Woo Hoo! I have been on the Campaign look-out trail!
Ya know how you start looking for a certain item/s and you just can't find it?
And then all of a sudden they fall in you lap!  I scored this pair of end tables from one lady
and the campaign bookcase from another.
Check out the cool hardware on top!
This is by far the ugliest yellow I think I've ever seen. 
I went with gray and the trim in black. I will show you in another post!

                                    However, the end table........sigh....love! 
Now, what I don't love is all that tarnishy hardware. God help me. The table took all of an hour to
paint. The hardware, at least 8. Oh, I'm counting the hardware from the above bookcase. 
                                 I haven't even started on end table #2 yet!!!

 Here is my new little feral friend that has been keeping me company while I'm
 out in the garage at night working. His mama brought him around a few months ago for grub. He used to have 3 other siblings. After a few weeks, this is all that's left. ;(  
 My house is surrounded by the highway, hills and lots of coyotes, owls, etc....  Tough life for feral cats. I've tried to catch him, but he's pretty quick. Then it takes me weeks to earn his trust back so that I can barely touch him again.  He's a cute little guy. 
Here is the latest project. A Campaign side table....with a horrendous paint job. 
I'm figuring maybe the three blind mice and Helen Keller were in on this.
 Notice the paint over the brass
accents. I mean seriously??And the handles too. You're too lazy to take out two screws?? 
I used my best stripper...soy gel. Totally no-toxic and cleans up with water. 
 Look at how this just peels right up after 30 mins!! I usually hate stripping furniture, so I rarely buy pieces that are already painted.  But this went fairly quickly.
So, here is the nice African Mahogany veneer after stripping. The drawers were easy but the 
top took a little more work. I hit it with the 80, 150 and 220 grit sandpaper on the sander. 
And this is what I ended up with all sanded. Complete raw wood! If it had been solid, I 
might have left it. But it was all veneer and nothing to leave Earth for.  
So what color????? Hmmmmmmm
    I thought about black. And I know white would sell. But I hate painting with white. 
Soooo boring. 
 Emerald Green???? I used this on another piece and it looked great. I left the legs and drawer fronts because I just think having some of that great wood as a contrast looks good.  If the green doesn't work out, I can always paint over it with black or red or any other dark color.  
                    Whatcha think????

The "Dixie" Campaign desk is done!
Thank-you for the coral suggestion.  I tried to find/mix a coral shade 
that I loved, but couldnt. They all turned out to pastel-like. 
Im all about the blues and greens, so I did a mixture of both! 
Lest you had forgotten the sad shape she came to me:
And now:
           I staged it in my family room. I normally have a large chair in that spot. It matches great!
 
           I debated on whether or not to paint the drawers. They were in good shape, so I thought I would
                 refinish them.  If I didnt like it, I could always paint over them. At least I have the option.
         
            Here were some of the orange/coral colors I was mixing. I ended up painting a MCM credenza
a brilliant tangerine color (here), so I went with the blue/green family on this one. 
    I see the gold bamboo mirrors all over Pinterest, so I thought I would do one of my own.
    Gold spray paint.  "Finn" the Betta, likes it. 
     The veneer on this piece was lifting up all over the place. Glue and finishing nails did the trick. 
                          I used a combo of BM "Emerald Isle and "Caribbean Blue" in semi-gloss
   I would love to find one of those Jonathan Adler chippendale chairs to go with the desk.

I'm kinda jazzed I finally picked up one of these Campaign desks
w/the faux bamboo!! This one is made by Dixie!! Even better! 
 I know,,,,,right??!! What the???!! So, I asked the women selling, "Oh, you started to
refinish (refinish?? more like mutilate) it?" 
Her:                     "Yeah"    
                               Me:  "Um, what did you use on the top?"
Her:      "Oh, a scraper."
    Me:      Audible gasp..........
Her:      "Was that bad?"
Um, Gee,......Ya think???!!!!
I actually think the surface of the moon feels smoother than the top of this desk. 
Running my hand over the top and feeling all the divots and gouges just makes me
